WELCOME TO RACHEL RIGG

We are excited to announce that Rachel Rigg has joined Horsfield Menzies as a Senior Associate in the Employment team. I managed to sit down and ask her some questions about her career to date and here’s what she had to say:

What’s your career journey been to date?

I moved to Manchester as a university student for the Law LLB. On graduating, I thought law was incredibly dry, but to stay in the city I took a role with boutique firm Heatons as their Receptionist, nearly 12 years ago now.  Heatons merged with Fieldfisher a year or so later, and my career took off as the Manchester office grew. After realising that the practice of law was much more fun than the study of it, I trained with the firm and qualified in 2019 as an employment solicitor. After six years with the team, it was time for me to embark on a new adventure, and here I am.

What’s been your career highlight?

I will never forget the day I found out I secured a training seat in the Silicon Valley. I was the first regional trainee to have the opportunity, and I am really proud of that. That was a fantastic six months - it was hard work, given that it was during the implementation of the GDPR (and I was working in the Privacy team at the time!), but I had a great time exploring California.

What excites you about joining Horsfield Menzies?

So many things! I am excited to be part of something dynamic and offering a lot of opportunity to grow, especially amongst such a great team. Horsfield Menzies was a perfect fit for me, especially in terms of my favourite areas of practice - I love all things litigation and also have a niche practice in contentious subject access requests. I am looking forward to getting to know our clients and hopefully solving a few DSAR headaches along the way.

What do you like to do when you’re not busy lawyering?

I like to spend my time finding wild swimming spots, trying a new brunch recipes, browsing around charity shops and reading. Wholesome things to recharge!
